The Just Good Friends Club is a registered charity , that supports adults with learning disabilities by providing a safe and friendly environment in which to enjoy evening and daytime social events. The programme of events is put together with ideas from our members, offering a choice and a voice to all. Each club has a committee of members who put forward activities.
The clubs offer many things to everyone involved, including our volunteers who enjoy their time at the clubs as much as our members do. A time to chat, make new friends, a time to learn how to socialise with other members of the community and how to respect each other. Most importantly, our clubs offer friendship, a time to enjoy activities without parents or carers, reduced isolation for anyone living alone and respite for anyone who lives with an adult with a learning disability.
To provide a safe environment to our members, offering them a voice and a choice whilst increasing opportunities to socialise and build friendships within a club which is affordable to all.
We promise to be open, transparent and approachable within our whole network of internal and external contacts.
We promise to offer our members the best of us as individuals and as a team.
We currently run 5 weekly evening clubs, 2 monthly nightclub events and weekly [2 sessions] daytime fun sports club. Membership is required to attend the evening clubs (£5 per club), but the nightclub events are open to all adults with a learning disability.
We are a non-profit charity funded by The National Lottery BIG Lottery Fund and also donations. We are currentky sponsored by Mad Signs and FWD Motion:
